From the brain of Peter Zachari, who brought you Fat Asses: The Musical and Parker & Dizzy's Fabulous Journey to the End of the Rainbow, both of which premiered at Theater for the New City, comes UNDER THE KNIFE: A FARCE.
Karen Lynn Gorney, star of the movie "Saturday Night Fever" and "All My Children" joins the cast which includes Peter Zachari, Lori Funk, Joey Mirabile, Scott Ahearn, Katelyn Collins and Itanza Wooden.
The Mount Canyon Gynecological Medical Group is going under and Dr. Roe Wade finds himself severely in debt. He turns to a broker to rent out two of his offices. One to a pair of plastic surgeons and the other to a dentist. What he doesn't know is that one of the plastic surgeons is Marcia, his ex- wife and the dentist is his long time mistress, Deidre. Deidre looks exactly like Marcia after undergoing plastic surgery. (Unbeknownst to her!) Marcia wants her alimony; Deidre wants to find her long-lost child. Both are expecting financial help from Roe, who is dead broke. Enter Budd, Roe and Marcia's son, who arrives to ask his father to pay for a wedding to marry Bernadette, a pro-life activist. Terrified his girlfriend may discover his father's controversial occupation he does whatever it takes to keep her from his father. Add a wacky receptionist, a forgetful Holocaust survivor and a treasure trove of other characters and you have UNDER THE KNIFE: A FARCE!
PETER ZACHARI (Playwright) wrote, produced and directed Parker & Dizzy's Fabulous Journey to the End of the Rainbow for the New York International Fringe Festival and Theater for the New City. He has also written Fat Asses: The Musical, The 3rd Gender, Lighten Up!, which was produced of-off-Broadway, as well as Loosen Up!, Shake It Up!, Live It Up!, and One Love. His ten-minute play, I Am Seventy Going on Eighteen was selected for production at the Boston Theatre Marathon VII. Mr. Zachari's directing credits include Into the Woods, Footloose, Rumors, Grease, They're Playing Our Song, Return to the Forbidden Planet and Moon Over Buffalo (Summer Theatre at Salem) as well asWest Side Story (Marblehead High School.) For several years, Mr. Zachari taught Acting and Directing for the Department of Theatre at Salem State University. He received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Salem State University
