RIPE EXTENDED BY POPULAR DEMAND!! Written by JOHN JILER Theater For The New City will present the World Premiere of John Jiler’s RIPE beginning October 11. Workshopped at both Playwrights Horizons and the Actor’s Studio, “Ripe” displays award-winning actor/writer Jiler at the height of his powers, as he plays a dozen unforgettable New York characters swirling around his dying, Runyonesque father.
As an actor Jiler has been seen at the Public Theatre, the Hartford Stage Company, Playwrights Horizons, among many others . He is the recipient of the Chicago Drama Critics Best Actor award. As a writer his plays have been seen coast to coast, from Seattle Rep to Playwrights Horizons to the Kennedy Center to the O’Neill and many places in between. His most recent non-fiction novel, Sleeping With The Mayor was a New York Times ‘Most Notable Book’.
