The play, starring Busch, and directed by Carl Andress (The Divine Sister; Die, Mommie, Die!) will play a limited engagement of 24 performances from Friday, March 30 through Saturday, April 28 at Theater for the New City’s Cino Theater (155 First Avenue). Busch as ‘Judith’ will be joined by Dave August (Naked Boys Singing!), Christopher Borg (Penny Penniworth), Larry Bullock (Charles Busch and Julie Halston: Together on Broadway), Jennifer Cody (Shrek, The Pajama Game), Kendal Sparks (Where’s Charley? at Encores!), Mary Testa (Queen of the Mist, Xanadu), Jennifer Van Dyck (The Divine Sister, The Third Story), John Wojda (The Merchant of Venice, Busch’s Queen Amarantha), and Billy Wheelan (Our Leading Lady, The Lady in Question is Charles Busch). JUDITH OF BETHULIA is an outrageous and bawdy celebration of the Hollywood Biblical epic. Lepers, whores, eunuchs, centurions, evil generals, youthful poets and a beautiful redheaded widow make Charles Busch's latest comedy an event worth praying for. Busch returns to Theater for the New City following the 2010 world premiere of The Divine Sister which became a sold out hit for the landmark downtown theater. Later that year, Daryl Roth transferred the production to the SoHo Playhouse which became one of the biggest hits of Busch’s legendary Off-Broadway career. CARL ANDRESS (Director). Carl is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire's Department of Theatre and Dance. DAVE AUGUST (Conan) is thrilled to be part of the cast of Judith of Bethulia. He has just finished an amazing run of the Off-Broadway hit Naked Boys Singing! Regionally, he has performed the roles of ‘Rocky’ in The Rocky Horror Show and ‘Keno’ in The Full Monty. He toured Europe and the US as the lead singer for The Chippendales. He loves to donate his spare time to benefit performances for Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, GMHC and many others. On television, Dave has moonlighted on “Saturday Night Live,” “Guiding Light” and “All My Children.” CHRISTOPHER BORG (Urdamani) is a Manhattan actor/writer/comedian. He originated roles in the Off-Broadway hits Penny Pennyworth and The Play About the Naked Guy (Emerging Artists Theatre) and garnered praise in the Times, Post, Variety, and New York Magazine. He’s a member of three venerable New York theatre companies including EAT & TOSOS with whom he received nominations for a GLAAD Media Award and an HX Award directing Bernadette & The Butcher of Broadway. For the past five years he has been a member of the New York Neo-Futurists writing and performing in the award-winning Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind every Friday and Saturday night (playing around the corner on East 4th Street). In addition, with the Neo-Futurists, he co-created the autobiographical (NOT) Just A Day Like Any Other which received the 2009 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Ensemble as well as the critically acclaimed experimental docutheatre piece Locker #4173b which received the 2011 IT Award for “Outstanding Performance Art Production.” LARRY BULLOCK (Thor). Judith of Bethulia marks Bullock’s third show with Charles Busch and Carl Andress. He has been with Charles and company for the last 12 years doing Times Square Angel every year at Christmas time. Larry also did Vampire Lesbians of Sodom with Charles and Julie Halston at the Music Box Theatre for a special performance for the Actor's Fund. Larry hails from the booming metropolis of Niceville, Florida in what is known as the “Red Neck Riviera.” Larry does movies, television, and the odd car show. In the words of Dolly Parton, “it takes a lot of work to look this cheap!” Being a himbo seems to be the cards that have been dealt to Larry, he makes the most of it by modeling underwear, doing exercise magazines, and many may recognize Larry for the numerous romance covers he has done over the years… hey it's a living. Larry considers Charles to be an artistic genius and is proud and honored that Charles and Carl let him play in their reindeer games. JENNIFER CODY (Naomi) has performed in over 15 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows including: Shrek, The Pajama Game, Taboo, Urinetown, Seussical, The Wild Party, Beauty and The Beast, Grease, Cats, No No Nanette (Encores), Best Little Whorehouse, Henry and Mudge, and Junie B. Jones. Cody is a Kevin Kline Award Winner, Drama League nominee, and IRNE Award nominee. TV/Film: Annie Award winner (Voice Acting Oscar) for the role of ‘Charlotte LaBouff’ in Disney’s The Princess and The Frog, “Winx” (Darcy), “Robot and Monster” (Lucy), ”Rosie Live,” “American Dad,” “Law & Order,” and the Paul Reiser Pilot (CBS).
