The 9th Annual Amnet Japan Art Matsuri (JAM) 2011 will be held from Friday, November 4th through Sunday, November 6th at the Theater for the New City in Manhattan’s East Village.
Held every year since 2003, JAM aims to introduce Japan and its culture with performances by Japanese artists, musicians and entertainers in a Japanese matsuri (festival)-style atmosphere, and to enhance friendship and communication between Japanese and non-Japanese communities in New York City area.
For this year, more than 1,000 people are expected to attend the 3-day event that features, in addition to above-mentioned live entertainments, a variety of street stall-style shops in the theater lobby that sell everything from Japanese food and drinks to artworks and traditional goods. There will also be “charity booths” to help Japanese earthquake victims. All shops are open to everyone who drops by at the theater (Purchasing of a JAM admission ticket that allows entrance to the entertainment portion of the event is not necessary to enjoy shopping).
