About The Grand Falloons

The Grand Falloons come from an eclectic background.  We are an ensemble of theater, vaudeville, and design professionals who have worked on the legitimate New York stage, on variety and new vaudeville stages around the world, on national television, and in circuses, opera houses, schools, museums, and theaters across the country. As vaudevillians and clowns, we live for comedy and joy.

About A Village of Fools

Stephen Ringold's original script is adapted (with permission) from three fairytales in Isaac Bashevis Singer’s Zlateh The Goat: "The Snow In Chelm," "The First Schlemiel," and "Zlateh The Goat." These stories move from a celebratory rite of political stupidity, through a classic fools’ journey, to a tragically comic tale reminiscent of Fellini's Nights of Caberea.  The scenic elements, multi-dimensional landscapes, and puppets are based on the landscapes and portraiture of Jewish-French expressionist painter Chaim Soutine. This show combines the work of these two Jewish, 20th-century Eastern-European masters with original music and the populist instincts of circus and vaudeville to create a powerful synergy leading to a vital musical theater—populist yet spiritual, emotional yet intellectual.

The people in Chelm were incredibly stupid. One day someone dropped a piece of bread; it landed butter side up.  Experience and Murphy's Law tell us bread always falls buttered side down.  The wise men of Chelm gathered to ponder why the bread landed buttered side up. After a week the verdict was reached: The bread had been buttered on the wrong side!
