MAQUINA MONO which means "monkey machine" is a bilingual Latin rock band with horns, from New York City. We play a range of music: rock, funk, reggae and r& b, all mixed with Latin styles. We play original music, and covers if requested. We have played extensively at festivals and clubs in New York City, as well as Boston and Argentina. Additionally, we have appeared in radio shows in both continents. Our last appearance at TNC was as one ofÊtwo dancebands for the annual Halloween Ball. Cobu, based in New York City, was created as a Live Rhythm Performing Arts Group in 2000. Yako Miyamoto, the founder of Cobu is a current member of the off broadway-hit STOMP. Cobu combines elements of the Japanese traditional Taiko drumming with rhythmic Tap dancing. The extremely positive impact of the performance has received rave reviews from The New York Times and The Chicago Sun Times. and has touched audiences through major festivals in Boston, Washington DC and Chicago.

Lying in a hospital bed during the final hours of his life, legendary poet Miguel Pinero suddenly finds himself transported back to the Lower east Side. This time he's not there to be Saint Miguelito, patron saint of lost junkies and cons, but just Miguel. Lessons on the A Train by Downtown Urban Theater Festival. Lessons on the A Train is an original coming-of-age story about a group of urban teenagers growing up in modern day NYC. It's put in motion one day on the A subway train where Bronx girls, Julissa and Lyria, find freedom to explore life choices when they encounter the candy-toting Raheim.

Monkey King Provokes the Heavenly Palace. The Monkey King, China's most famous folk hero, was once working up in Heaven. Upset at not being invited to the annual Peach banquet, he breaks into the hall, ruins the party and provokes a battle with Heavenly fairies. Written by Melisa Tien, Directed by Candice Burridge. With Paulina Brahm, Roy Chang, Michael LaPorta, G.V. Maldonado, Kervin Peralta, Mia Van de Water, Ya Yun Teng, The Lion Dancers. Daughter of Heaven will be performed as part of TNCÕs Chrysalis program on Sunday, June 13th.

She writes periodically for New York Press, runs a Ladies Only writing workshop on 7th Street, and is currently working on The Bitches Guide to the Lower East Side.
